Ambulatory phlebectomy (minimal surgery)
Ambulatory phlebectomy surgically removes surface varicose veins and may also be used in treating post-thrombotic syndrome.
This vein treatment is usually done in-office, using local anesthesia. Incisions are tiny (stitches are generally not necessary) and typically leave nearly imperceptible puncture scars. After the vein has been removed by phlebectomy, a bandage and/or compression stocking is worn for a short period.
